FC Barcelona have beaten Atletico Madrid 4-2 at the Camp Nou as they continue their push to finish the season in the top 4 of the La Liga table. The match had all the drama and passion that was expected from it. Dani Alves scored a goal and also assisted his teammate Jordi Alba for a wonder goal which made the Barca fans go berserk in the crowd. It was Atletico who took the early lead in the game by a Yannick Carrasco goal which was provided to him by former Barcelona fan favourite Luis Suarez.
However, the Catalans bounced back quite quickly after just two minutes as Jordi Alba scored that scorcher of a goal to make it 1-1. Debutant Adama Traore also helped Barcelona extend the league when he provided a brilliant cross for the youngster Gavi who headed the ball into the goal. The lead was extended to three goals after Araujo and Dani Alves scored two goals to make it 4-1 which more or less decided the outcome of the game.
Luis Suarez provided Atletico very little hope by scoring a header right in front of the goal but it wasn’t to be as Barcelona managed the game well afterward. Things got fiery in the match as Barcelona’s assistant coach who is also Xavi’s brother got sent off after a clash between both the club’s technical staff.
Barcelona have now leapfrogged Atletico Madrid into the fourth position of the La Liga table and will be hoping to get some consistency in their performances and their results with the arrival of new signings Adama Traore and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
