40 lakh cash award for each player: BCCI

BCCI has announced 40 Lakh for each Indian player and 25 Lakh for support staff after the India Under19 team created history by winning the World Cup for a record fifth time.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah Tweeted ” I’m pleased to announce the reward of 40 lacs per player and 25 lacs per support staff for the U19 Team India contingent for their exemplary performance in U19 CWC Final. You have made Flag of India proud.”

In another tweet, Shah said, “Congratulations Boys In Blue on winning the ICC U19 World Cup. This is a Very Very Special win against all odds. Each of our youngsters has shown the heart and temperament needed to make history in these trying times.”

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly tweeted “Congratulations to the under 19 team and the support staff and the selectors for winning the world cup in such a magnificent way ..The cash prize announced by us of 40 lakhs is a small token of appreciation but their efforts are beyond value .. magnificent stuff..”

India cruised to a four-wicket victory against England to win the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup final at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua. It was also a record-extending fifth U-19 title for India.
