Alastair Cook, Neetu David, AB de Villiers Inducted into ICC Hall of Fame

England’s legendary opening batter, Alastair Cook, has further solidified his cricketing legacy by earning a place in the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.

Known for his exceptional patience, flawless technique, and unwavering focus, Cook’s international career spanned over 12 years, making him one of the most consistent Test openers in the game’s history. His impressive career is highlighted by numerous records and accolades, including being England’s all-time leading run-scorer in Test cricket, a record he still holds even six years post-retirement.

Cook played a crucial role in two of England’s most remarkable overseas victories: the 2010-11 Ashes win and the historic 2012 Test series victory in India. As England’s captain for several years, he led his team to numerous notable series wins abroad. His mental toughness was evident throughout his career, showcased by his world-record 159 consecutive Test appearances.

In addition to Cook’s honor, Neetu David becomes the second woman from India to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame, following Diana Edulji in 2023. David, a prolific left-arm spinner, is the second-highest wicket-taker in Indian women’s ODI cricket, with 141 wickets.

She was also the first Indian woman to reach the milestone of 100 ODI wickets. Her standout achievement came in 1995 when she claimed 8/53 in a Test against England, a record for the best figures in an individual Test innings by a woman that still stands today.

Another cricketing icon to receive the prestigious Hall of Fame recognition is AB de Villiers, often regarded as one of the most destructive and innovative batters in the modern era. Over a 14-year career, de Villiers left an indelible mark on international cricket, amassing over 20,000 international runs across all formats.

His extraordinary achievements include holding the record for the fastest men’s ODI century and winning multiple ICC Men’s ODI Player of the Year awards. With over 50+ batting averages in both Test and ODI formats, de Villiers cemented his place among the greats, trailing only Jacques Kallis in South Africa for total international runs with 20,014.
