For the second match in a row, Belarus’ famed Aliaksandra Sasnovich beat a major Grand slam winner Angelique Kerber to reach the fourth round of the French Open.
She beat Kerber in 2 set straights.
After beating US Open Champion Emma Radacanu, she came up against another Grand Slam champion in Angelique Kerber.
Aliaksandra Sasnovich beat Raducanu 3-6,6-1,6-1 to progress to the 3rd round. Despite being a set down, Sasnovich showed tremendous character and skills to oust Raducanu 6-1 in 2 consecutive sets.
On the other hand, Kerber was on a run of 7 victories before the 3rd round clash tonight. She beat Elsa Jacquemot 6-1,7-6(7-2) to set up an entertaining clash vs Sasnovich.
In the first set, Sasnovich broke Kerber, which was enough as she won it 6-4.
With elimination on the line, Kerber stepped up her game. The former world number 1 took the match to the a tie breaker.
Unfortunately, the German could not come up trumps as the 47th-ranked Belarusian took the set and match 7-6(7-2).
A day to remember for Sasnovich tonight. She now faces Martina Trevisan.
