Ravindra Jadeja continued his spectacular comeback to the Indian team on Day 2 of the first Test against Sri Lanka in Mohali, hitting his second Test century and putting the hosts in a commanding position.
Jadeja batted after Shreyas Iyer was dismissed and had a 104-run stand with Rishabh Pant (96), before joining forces with Ravichandran Ashwin to form another 100-plus unbroken stand for the seventh wicket in the Mohali Test.
As India tallied 357/6 at stumps on Day 1 of the first Test against Sri Lanka. In his 100th test, Virat Kohli scored 8,000 runs, while Rishabh Pant hit 96 from 97 balls.
Pant scored his eighth Test half-century as India grabbed command in the third session of the first day.
Hanuma Vihari (58) scored his sixth test half-century and contributed 90 runs for the third wicket with Kohli, who went to the crease to a standing ovation.
Sri Lanka responded with two wickets in four overs.
Kohli batted late and was dismissed by Lasith Embuldeniya (2-107). Vishwa Fernando (1-69) bowled Vihari in the 47th over, leaving India at 175-4.
Kohli’s quest for the 71st century continues. He last made a three-figure salary in November of 2019.
