Aslam Inamdar and Mohit Goyat inspire the Puneri Paltans to key win over Jaipur Pink Panthers

A Super 10 from Aslam Inamdar and a 14-point outing from Mohit Goyat guided Puneri Paltan to a 37-30 win over the Jaipur Pink Panthers. The result puts the Panthers’ campaign under risk.

The Pink Panthers got off to a hot start and raced to a 4-1 lead, courtesy of two points from Brijendra and a point each from Arjun Deshwal and Deepak. The Paltan responded with a 5-1 run to bring parity to the scoreline.

A self-out from Amirhossein Maleki and a touchpoint from Goyat saw Pune reduce Jaipur to just two men on the mat. The young raider then added another point to his tally, and the Paltan defence took care of the final man to inflict the game’s first All Out and take a 12-8 lead.

Two tackle points in quick succession from Vishal Bharadwaj and top work on offence from Goyat and Inamdar ensured the Paltan reduce the Pink Panthers to a solitary man and go into the break leading 18-11.

A surrender raid from Jaipur’s solitary man on defence saw Pune inflict another All-Out on the Pink Panthers and extend their lead to 10.

A sensational Dubki from Inamdar saw him evade three defenders and pick up a Super Raid to extend his team’s advantage to 13. A slew of successful raids from Deshwal helped the Pink Panthers cut the deficit to 10, but Jaipur’s defence failed to contain Inamdar, as the Paltan maintained their healthy advantage.

A touch point from Naveen and a two-point raid from Deshwal reduced the Paltan to just two men on the mat. Deepak’s incredible Dash on Goyat left Pune with just a solitary player on the mat, and Deshwal completed the formalities to inflict an All-Out on the Paltan and cut his team’s deficit to five.

With the game on a knife’s edge, both teams needed a big moment to swing the tide of the contest in their favour, and Goyat came through for the Paltan with a sensational Ankle Hold on Deshwal to end the Pink Panthers’ hopes of winning the game. Inamdar and the defence added two more points to their team’s total, as the Paltan registered a crucial win in their quest for a playoff spot.
