Australia Beat England By 275 Runs

Australia beat England by 275 runs in the day-night second Ashes Test at the Adelaide Oval on Monday to go 2-0 up in the five-match series.

Chasing a daunting victory target of 468, England were all out for 192 in the final session of the pink-ball contest.

Chris Woakes’ 44 was the highest individual score in England’s abject second innings batting display, while Jos Buttler frustrated Australia for a while with a dogged 26 off 207 balls.

Young Australia paceman Jhye Richardson picked up his maiden five-wicket haul in Test cricket as hosts thrashed England.

England were 180/8 at tea but Australia will be confident of getting the last two wickets in the final session and go 2-0 up in the five-match series. Stuart Broad was yet to open his account after surviving 16 deliveries.

In the 117-year history of five-Test Ashes series, only one team has recovered from a 0-2 deficit to win the last three matches and that was largely due to the individual mastery of Don Bradman in the summer of 1936-37.

Schedule

First Test: Australia won by nine wickets

Second Test: Australia won by 275 runs

Third Test: December 26-30, MCG

Fourth Test: January 5-9, SCG

Fifth Test: January 14-18, Blundstone Arena
