Australia ‘Incredibly safe’ in Pakistan: Steve Smith

Australia’s vice-captain Steve Smith has said that he has fully recovered from a head injury last month and is looking forward to the first Test series against Pakistan since 1998. Smith suffered a head injury while trying to save a six during a T20I match against Sri Lanka in Sydney. He could not play the last three T20 matches against Sri Lanka.

He said in an online press conference on Tuesday, ‘It looks fine now. I am feeling better since last few days. Feeling better after today’s practice session’. The Australian team practiced at the Pindi Cricket Stadium where the first Test is to be played. The second Test will be played in Karachi from March 12 to 16 and the third in Lahore from March 21 to 25.

Smith said, ‘It is important to adapt the situation. It feels good to be back in Pakistan after so long. We know how much the people here are fond of cricket. He also said that the team feels safe in Pakistan.

The social media death threat to Australian spinner Ashton Agar’s wife has been investigated and both Pakistan and Australia Cricket Board have said after the investigation that the threat was not credible. Steve smith said ‘We trust our security and everyone involved. We’re feeling incredibly safe here in Pakistan.’
