The BCCI has rebranded the National Cricket Academy (NCA) as the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) to revolutionize India’s sports ecosystem. Spanning over 40 acres, this state-of-the-art facility is designed to develop cricket talent and nurture athletes from various sports, setting a new benchmark for sports science and training in India.
In the heart of this world-class facility are three elite cricket grounds, surrounded by 86 meticulously maintained pitches—both indoor and outdoor. Ground A’s centerpiece boasts an 85-yard perimeter and 13 pristine Mumbai red dirt pitches. Equipped with cutting-edge broadcast capabilities and advanced floodlighting, it can host and stream live matches under lights.
Grounds B and C, with 75-yard boundaries, serve as dedicated practice fields. They feature Mandya and Black Cotton soil pitches from Kalahandi, Odisha. These grounds have been equipped with innovative subsurface drainage systems, ensuring swift recovery post-rainfall, thus minimizing interruptions and maximizing training time.
The grounds’ aesthetic design, complete with white picket fencing and lush sitting mounds, evokes the charm of traditional English county parks, creating a picturesque setting for athletes.
The BCCI Centre of Excellence is more than just a cricket facility—it’s a hub for sports development in India. The BCCI’s commitment to expanding beyond cricket to support a broader range of athletes highlights its vision to make India a global powerhouse in sports. With world-class infrastructure and a focus on excellence in training, the Centre of Excellence is set to play a pivotal role in developing the next generation of athletes and elevating India’s standing on the international stage.
