Paris, Oct 30: Veteran Indian tennis player Rohan Bopanna and his Australian partner Matthew Ebden have secured a spot in the Paris Masters men’s doubles quarterfinals after a strong straight-set win over the Brazilian-German duo of Marcelo Melo and Alexander Zverev. The third-seeded Bopanna-Ebden pair won 6-4, 7-6 (5) in a tightly contested match lasting one hour and 16 minutes.
Bopanna and Ebden delivered a solid performance, capitalizing on a critical break in the opening set and displaying consistency with a 91% win rate on their first serve, complemented by four aces. The match concluded in a tiebreak in the second set, where the Indo-Australian duo maintained their edge to secure victory.
This win marks another highlight in a successful season for Bopanna and Ebden, who clinched the Australian Open title earlier in the year and have now qualified for the prestigious ATP Finals in Turin from November 10-17, featuring the world’s top eight doubles teams.
