Cheteshwar Pujara continues to shine in the Royal London Cup. Sussex captain Cheteshwar Pujara on Tuesday stunned Middlesex bowlers to complete his third century in the ongoing tournament. The right-handed batsman showed great form in the County Championship Division 2 and has managed to maintain the same momentum in limited overs cricket. After scoring hundreds against Warwickshire and Surrey, Pujara made the Middlesex bowlers his prey at Hove.
Pujara, who came out to bat at number four, scored a century in just 75 balls. The Indian batsman shared a 240-run partnership with Tom Alsop. Alsop was the team’s best scorer, scoring 189 not out in 155 balls with the help of 19 fours and five sixes. On the other hand, Cheteshwar Pujara scored 132 runs in 90 balls with the help of 20 fours and two sixes. Max Harris ended Pujara’s innings by being caught out at the hands of Holden. Sussex scored 400 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs on the basis of the century innings of Alsop and Pujara.
Pujara recently made a comeback in the Indian Test team on the back of a stellar performance in England’s domestic cricket. He made his debut in the fifth Test against England in Birmingham. In this match, Pujara scored 13 and 66 runs in both the innings respectively. India was defeated by seven wickets in this match. The Saurashtra batsman has so far represented Team India in 96 Tests and 5 ODIs and scored 6792 and 51 runs. He scored 18 centuries and 33 half-centuries in Tests.
