England name their playing XI for Edgbaston test

James Anderson returns to the starting XI for England for the historic test against India, commencing tomorrow

Iconic do of James Anderson and Stuart Broad will be raring to go against India in the fifth and final test of the series for England.

Openers Adam Leach and Zak Crawley keep their place, despite their ordinary run of form off late.

Ollie Pope to continue batting at the third spot after an outstanding display against the Kiwi’s.

The in-form Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow, along with captain Ben Stokes make up the rest of the batting order.

James Anderson, who had been ruled out of the third test against New Zealand, replaces Jamie Overton in the playing XI.

Sam Billings will keep wickets for the home side against India.

On the other hand, there is still some doubt over the playing XI for India. Rohit Sharma faces a race against time to be fit for the final test. As a result, the captain for the last test is yet to be decided.

India are in the driving seat, having a 2-1 lead going into the final test.
