England have made four changes to the playing XI for the Boxing Day Test at the MCG, with Jonny Bairstow, Jack Leach, Zak Crawley and Mark Wood substituting Ollie Pope, Stuart Broad, Rory Burns and Chris Woakes.
Pope and Burns were capable to bring together only 48 and 51 runs separately in the first two Tests. On the other hand, Chris Woakes and Stuart Broad have brought three and two wickets in the series respectively. As for the rest, Woakes also averages 54.28 away from home and 55.61 in Australia while Broad averages 37.88 in Australia.
England have also fetched back speedster Mark Wood and spinner Jack Leach for the Boxing Day Test.
England also ensured that Jos Buttler, who almost worked a draw for his team in Adelaide by turning away from his typical fierce self and playing a 207-ball 26, will keep wickets and Bairstow will play as a refined batter.
England XI for third Ashes Test: Haseeb Hameed, Zak Crawley, Dawid Malan, Joe Root (c), Ben Stokes, Jonny Bairstow, Jos Buttler (wk), Mark Wood, Ollie Robinson, Jack Leach, James Anderson.
