Everton finalize Van de Beek and Dele Alli deals on deadline day

Everton football club have had a very busy January transfer window and one can say a productive one as well. After the sacking of former manager Rafa Benitez from the club following a loss to Norwich City in the premier league, the toffees were without any manager and in need of recruitments as well. The club currently sits 4 points away from the relegation zone had to act quickly in order to save their season. The club appointed former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard as their manager who wasted no time in formalities and got straight to work.

The club have finalized an agreement with Manchester United’s talented Dutch midfielder, Donny Van de Beek, on a loan deal for the rest of the season and have also signed Dele Alli on a permanent move from Tottenham Hotspurs for a period of two and a half years. The Dutch player has been signed for a loan fee and 100% of his salary will be paid by Everton FC. The English midfielder Dele Alli on the other hand comes to the club as a free agent as his contract had run out.

Van de Beek had been signed by United in the 2020 summer transfer window from Ajax for 35 million pounds. The midfielder is valued a lot in the footballing world and was an influential player in his former club. However, he got only four starts in a Man United shirt and was in need of some playing time. He was also approached by Crystal Palace but Frank Lampard wanted him at Everton. The Dutch player reacted to his transfer by saying “I think it is a great club. There are really good players here and I came because I want to help them go up the table,”

“I had a really positive meeting with the new coach. We have the same ideas about football and he had a lot of influence on my decision.

“I can learn a lot from him because he was a little bit in the same position as a midfield player who scored a lot of goals.”

Dele Alli

Dele Alli has been given a chance to redeem himself in Everton and revive the decelerating career he was undergoing at Tottenham. He hasn’t been able to get much game time because of his poor form in the recent season. However, Lampard has shown trust in him and will try to return the Dele Alli who was judged in the past to become a potential star in the premier league.
