Get to know about Daniil Medvedev.

He was born on February 11, 1996, in Moscow. Before picking up tennis he tried a lot of sports. His parents wanted him to become a swimmer it did not work out with him. He also tried chess and painting classes but later realized his passion was in tennis. 

He studied maths and physics in school in Moscow. He was also good at language. He speaks fluent Russian, English, and French. He enrolled himself in economics and commerce at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations. Before becoming a tennis pro.

At the age of eighteen, Medvedev moved to France. He joined the Elite Tennis Centre in Cannes, where he found his mentor Gilles Cervara. Medvedev found out with Gilles Cervara helped he can become one of the rising stars in the game. 

In 2014, Medvedev and his girlfriend Daria started living together. Daria also played tennis but had to leave the game due to injuries. In the same Medvedev made his professional tennis debut.

The breakthrough in Medvedev’s career took place in 2016. During that year, he climbed 232 positions in the ATP rankings to 99th place and became eligible to play in Grand Slam events. In early 2017, Medvedev reached the ATP finals which made him famous around the world he was only 20 years old. In the Chennai Open final, he was beaten in two sets by Roberto Bautista Agut. Although he lost, Medvedev jumped thirty-four positions to a career-high sixty-five in the ATP rankings. In that fowling year, Medvedev reached the first rounds of the Australian Open, the French Open the US Open, and the second round of Wimbledon.

Medvedev and his girlfriend Daria got married on 12th September 2018 in Moscow. In 2018, Medvedev was a finalist in the US open

After winning one of the biggest Grand Slam tournaments, Daniil Medvedev strengthened his position on the Forbes list of forty most successful Russians under the age of forty. Due to this success, he extended his sponsorship deal with BMW until 2024 and re-signed an agreement with French clothing and sports equipment brand Lacoste until 2026. He loves sports cars and loves to drive fast.

The year 2021 seems to be great for Medvedev as he won the US Open men’s singles title, he defeated Novak Djokovic in the final. In that year he also reached the fourth round of Wimbledon and quarterfinals of the French Open. 

During the final match played on Sunday, Rafael Nadal defeated Medvedev. Daniil Medvedev’s dream of winning the Australian Open 2022 has been crushed. Though he lost the final match he won the hearts of many tennis fans with his performance.
