Virat Kohli, who is on his way to being the 12th Indian to play 100 Tests, says he “never dreamed” he would go this far and make such a historic appearance. With 7962 runs at a great average of 50.39, Kohli has made great progress in a decade; he scored only four and fifteen runs in his debut Test against the West Indies in 2011.
Playing my 100th test was a dream come true. It’s been a long and winding road. There’s a lot of international cricket going on right now.Kohli made the statement in a video provided by the BCCI.
I’m just grateful that I made it to 100. Cricketers Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar, Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar, Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman, Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh, and Ishant Sharma are among those to have played 100 Tests.
“God has been gracious. I’ve worked hard to improve my physical fitness. “It’s a momentous time for me, my family, and my coach, who, as far as I’m concerned, is equally ecstatic and proud of this test match,” Kohli added.
The BCCI has agreed to allow a crowd of 50% of the stadium capacity for Kohli’s 100th Test.
