ICC Reject Ramiz Raja’s 4-Nation Tournament Proposal

ICC has Rejected Ramiz Raja’s 4-Nation Tournament Proposal which included India, Pakistan.

The International Cricket Council (ICC), in their annual meeting held in Dubai on Sunday 10 April, collectively rejected the proposal of four-nation T20I series.

The idea that was tabled by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ramiz Raja including India, Pakistan, Australia, and England.

Revenue expected from the proposal was huge, about $ 750 million, given the presence of arch-rivals India and Pakistan playing each other regularly.

The two cricketing giants play each other only in ICC and Asia Cup events.

As per the reports from PTI, Ramiz Raja’s proposal projected revenue of USD 750 million for the next five years, which was to be distributed amongst the members of the ICC.

BCCI wasn’t interested much in this because already they are the richest board. Their interest wasn’t piqued by the fact that they would be dividing revenue amongst everyone.

The packed calendar was one of the most important factors in rejecting the proposal.

“In any case, ICC’s Financial and Commercial Affairs Committee (F&CA) was against this proposal. As we know that the MPA (Members Participation Agreement) doesn’t allow any member nation to host more than tri-nation, organizing four-nation every year would have in any case devalued ICC’s own marquee events,” a board member told PTI.
