India defeats Bangladesh by 227 runs

India on Saturday thrashed Bangladesh by 227 runs in the third and final ODI at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, but went down 1-2 in the three-match series. Bangladesh chased 410 goals and were bowled out for a meager total of 182 in 34 overs. For India, Shardul Thakur conceded his 3 wickets while Axar Patel and Umran Malik took 2 wickets each. Earlier, Ishan Kishan and Virat Kohli tore apart his line-up of Bangladesh bowling and helped India reach his staggering total of 409 for 8 in his 50 overs. Ishan Kishan scored 210 runs off 131 balls and Virat Kohli scored 113 runs off 91 balls. The duo strung together 290 runs at the second wicket. Bangladeshi skipper Lytton Das won the toss and chose to bowl first.

From Ishan Kishan’s record-breaking second century to Virat Kohli’s 72 tons, it was a game to remember for the Indian side, who fielded a huge 409/8 in their third and final ODI on Saturday’s Chattogram. The hosts chased the mammoth 410 to victory and were always behind his eighth ball, with Axar Patel holding the ball to push the hosts back early. Bangladesh never recovered from the setback and eventually lost the match by 227 runs.

After the win, Indian captain KL Rahul said,

This was expected from our team. Virat and Kishan set it up for us. The scores don’t suggest that the way he started off. He grabbed the opportunity with both hands. He batted brilliantly. Virat also used his experience and guided him. You know that the batters will come hard and you will get wickets. There was not much help. We took some brave chances. Very happy with our performance. We are learning as a team. Still try to get better. Unfortunate, the results didn’t go our way in the first two games. We would want to take the confidence into the Test series.
