India skipper KL Rahul won the toss and opted to bat first against South Africa in the second ODI in Paarl. India has gone in unchanged while the Proteas have replaced Marco Jansen with Sisanda Magala. South Africa currently leads the 3-match series 1-0.
For India KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan opened the innings. Rahul and Shikhar added 63 runs for the first wicket. Shikhar Dhawan scored 29 runs before getting to Aiden Markram. Virat Kohli was gone for a duck. Kl Rahul and Rishabh Pant added 115 runs partnership for the third wicket and kept India in a strong batting position. Eventually Kl Rahul for 55 runs. But Rishab Pant scored 85 runs from just 71 balls in which he hits 10 fours and two sixes. Pant registered the highest score by an India wicketkeeper in an ODI in South Africa. The previous highest score by a designated Indian wicketkeeper in the Rainbow Nation belonged to Rahul Dravid, who is currently the head coach of the side. MS Dhoni’s highest score in an ODI in South Africa is 65. He had done that in 2013 in Johannesburg. A solid partnership of 48 runs between Ravichandran Ashwin and Shardul sends India to a total of 287 runs. Shardul also scores a brilliant 40 runs with the bat.
