Following a thrashing win over the West Indies in the limited-overs series, India will face another challenge from their neighbouring country Sri Lanka in a three-match T20I series beginning on February 24th. India has chosen to rest key players including as Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant for the T20I series, but they will return for the longer format. Sanju Samson has been called up to the squad as a backup wicketkeeper for Ishan Kishan, and the series is a major chance for the young players.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka is coming off a 1-4 setback in Australia, but they were able to thread together some positives towards the conclusion of the series. Pathum Nissanka batted brilliantly throughout the series, but Lahiru Kumara’s speed was superb. Wanindu Hasaranga, who can turn games around as a batsman and a bowler, will be out due to Covid-19. The last series between these two teams concluded in Sri Lanka’s favour last year.
The India vs Sri Lanka first T20I will start at 7:00 PM IST on Thursday (February 24).
