Indian Sports Fraternity Pays Tribute As Bipin Rawat Passed Away In Helicopter Crash

In a grievous incident, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat deceased from injuries when a Mi-17V5 helicopter taking him and his wife Madhulika Rawat crashed in Coonoor in Tamil Nadu. The chopper, taking Gen Rawat and his staff, collided in foggy situations, causing the death of 13 individuals on board, as the IAF and other officers said. One person survived the wreck and is being treated at a hospital.

“With deep regret, it has now been ascertained that Gen Bipin Rawat, Mrs Madhulika Rawat and 11 other persons on board have died in the unfortunate accident,” the IAF said in a tweet.

Indian sports fraternity expressed its condolence over the unfortunate news.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of CDS Shri Bipin Rawat, Mrs Madhulika Rawat and the Army officials and IAF crew involved in the unfortunate helicopter accident in Coonoor. May God give them strength. Om shanti” tweeted Neeraj Chopra.

“Extremely pained to hear about the passing away of Shri #BipinRawat , his wife Madhulika Rawat and 11 army personnel in the tragic helicopter crash. Gratitude for his wonderful service to the nation. Om Shanti,” tweeted Virender Sehwag.

“Deeply saddened by the tragic and untimely demise of Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Bipin Rawat, his wife Mrs. Madhulika Rawat and 11 other personnel of our armed forces. My deepest condolences to their families and well-wishers,” tweeted Yuvraj Singh.

“Deeply saddened to hear about the demise of Sh. #BipinRawat and his wife in a tragic helicopter crash. The nation will always be grateful to Gen. Rawat for his service to the nation. Om Shanti Jai Hind” tweeted VVS Laxman.

“Deeply saddened by the untimely demise of CDS Bipin Rawat ji and other officials in a tragic helicopter crash. My deepest condolences to the friends & family members” skipper Virat Kohli tweeted on Twitter. 

“Extremely tragic… My heartfelt condolences to family and friends of CDS General Bipin Rawat and the 11 army personnel. We will always be grateful for your service towards our nation” tweeted Rohit Sharma.

“Very sad to hear about the news …RIP #bipinrawat sir” tweeted Saina Nehwal.

“Saddened by the news of the helicopter crash. Prayers with General #BipinRawat and everyone who lost their lives. Condolences to the loved ones” tweeted Hardik Pandya.

General Rawat was appointed India’s Chief of Defence Staff in 2019. This got together the Army, the Navy, and the Air Force. He had formerly functioned as the chief of India’s one-million-strong army.

Gen Rawat, who occasionally set off disputes with his remarks on political actions, had the standing of “an inspiring commander”.
