IPL 2022: Back to back wins for SRH as they beat GT

IPL 2022: Gujarat Titans suffer first defeat of the season at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad.

IPL 2022: SRH skipper Kane Williamson scored a half century to help SRH get their 2nd win of the season against Gujarat Titans at the Dr DY Patil Stadium.

SRH won their first match of the season against a struggling CSK side. Abhishek Sharma was the star of the show that time.

As for GT, back to back sixes off the final two deliveries by Rahul Tewatia helped them stay unbeaten. But, not for long.

A convincing win for SRH tonight.

SRH had won the toss and decided to bowl first.

Both teams remained unchanged from their previous games.

First Innings

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was all over the place as he failed to get into his rhythm. He yielded 17 runs off the very first over. A brilliant start for Gujarat Titans.

But soon, Rahul Tripathi took a blinder to removethe in-form Shubman Gill. He was out for meagre 7 runs. The wicket gave Bhuvi confidence.

GT lost their 2nd wicket in the powerplay as T Natarajan’s ball bounced higher than Sai Sudarshan had expected. The top edge resulted in a simple catch for Kane Williamson.

Hardik Pandya was welcomed to the crease by a stinger. The Gujarat Titans skipper was hit on the helmet first up by pacer Umran Malik. Fortunately, Hardik was ok to continue.

Matthew Wade could not convert his start as he fell to the young quickie Malik.

Hardik Pandya alongside David Miller and Abhinav Manohar propelled GT to a defendable score of 162.

Second Innings

Last games hero Abhishek Sharma had a slow start but soon picked up pace as he smashed 4 fours in an over of Lockie Ferguson. He was sent back to the dugout soon after, by spin wizard Rashid Khan.

Kane Williamson built a steady partnership alongside Rahul Tripathi. The partnership ended when Rahul Tripathi was on the floor grimacing in pain after hitting a maximum. He had to be retired as Nicholas Pooran came to the crease.

A few big hits helped Williamson get his first 50 of the season. But, he was not able to guide SRH over the finish line. He fell to GT skipper Hardik Pandya.

Aiden Markram along with Nicholas Pooran made sure they guide SRH home. A six to finish off the innings in style from Pooran helped SRH triumph over GT by 8 wickets. Kane Williamson was adjudged as the player of the match.

GT now take on league leaders Rajasthan Royals on 14th April, whereas SRH play KKR on Friday.
