IPL 2022: Prithvi Shaw recovering from fever in hospital

IPL 2022 saw Prithvi Shaw missing the last match for Delhi Capitals against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

He then posted a picture of himself on Instagram referring to his recovery from fever. This is what he had to say,

Admitted in hospital & recovering from fever. Thank u all for your good wishes. Will be back in action soon.

A BCCI official stated,

Prithvi is currently recovering well in a Mumbai hospital. He had to be admitted as he was running a high temperature but his RT-PCR test turned out to be negative. The hospital where he has been admitted is a non-COVID one.

Shaw’s absence didn’t have an impact on the Delhi Capitals’ performance, as they put up a massive score of 207 in the last match. Sunrisers Hyderabad managed 186 for 8 on the board and fell 21 runs short. Both Rovman Powell and David Warner’s brilliant knocks with the bat proved decisive.

Prithvi Shaw didn’t perform too well with the bat this season, registering 259 runs from 10 matches at a strike rate of 159.88. He scored two half-centuries though. He had a few decent starts as an opener but couldn’t convert them into big scores.

The latest news state that a net bowler tested positive for COVID and the team went into isolation again. According to the policies, all the staff and members of Delhi Capital have to go through testing and until then everyone should be under strict isolation. Earlier in the season, Mitchell Marsh and Tim Seifert had tested positive and the team had to go into isolation.

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals will be looking forward to the speedy recovery of Prithvi Shaw, as his partnership with David Warner has been a positive sign in this season. They are currently looking to win all of their remaining matches to confirm their place in the IPL playoffs. They sit in 5th position with 10 points behind Royal Challengers Bangalore but with 2 matches in hand.
