According to sources, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction is expected to occur in Riyadh at the end of this month. “Officials have traveled there to finalize the venue and dates, with an announcement coming soon,” the source indicated.
With all ten franchises having released their lists of retained players, the focus now turns to the upcoming mega auction scheduled for late November. Each team will have a salary cap of ₹120 crore to build a squad of 25 players, with the option to retain up to six players through retention or Right to Match (RTM) cards. Teams can keep a maximum of five capped international players and two uncapped Indian players.
Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders and inaugural season winners Rajasthan Royals have chosen to fully retain their squads, securing six players each. Five franchises—Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai Indians, and Sunrisers Hyderabad—have retained five players.
On the other hand, Delhi Capitals have kept four players, Royal Challengers Bengaluru three, and Punjab Kings (PBKS) two players. Notably, Punjab Kings will head into the much-anticipated auction with the most oversized purse, boasting ₹110.5 crore available to make strategic additions to their team.
