Covid scare in IPL2022, After Delhi Capitals (DC) physio Patrick Farhart tested positive for Covid-19, the entire DC team has been sent into quarantine after one of its players tested positive for the virus. As a result of the latest development, DC have cancelled their travel to Pune for the next match.
As reported by Cricbuzz, DC players are in their rooms and door-to-door Covid tests will be done today and tomorrow. The said player tested positive during the Rapid Antigen Test and will undergo further RT-PCR test.
DC, who are currently ranked eighth in the IPL 2022 points table, will next take on Mayank Agarwal-led Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on April 20. DC have won 2 games in 5 matches, securing 4 points in the league so far.
According to the BCCI rules, fixtures of teams failing to field a playing XI amid COVID-19 crisis will be postponed. If that’s not possible, the issue will be referred to the IPL Technical Committee and a final decision will be taken.
“BCCI, at its discretion, will attempt to reschedule the match for later in the season if a team cannot field a playing XI due to COVID-19. If this is not possible, the issue will be referred to the IPL Technical Committee,” states the rule.
The BCCI had allowed 50 per cent capacity in stadiums as COVID-19 cases reduced across the country. However, the case are rising once again amid rising fears of a fourth wave of COVID-19 across the country.
