In the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Quetta Gladiators defeated Lahore Qalandars by seven wickets thanks to Jason Roy’s blazing century. Roy took a powerful Lahore bowling attack led by Rashid Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Haris Rauf to the cleaners, hitting 116 off 57 balls to help Quetta achieve the challenging total of 205 in 19.3 overs. This was the second most successful run-chase in the tournament’s history. Roy hit his first 50 after only 20 balls, and his second 50 after only 29 balls. He reached his century in the 13th over with a huge six over midwicket.
In his spectacular innings, England’s opener blasted eight sixes and four fours. On the first over of the Quetta chase, the right-hander made his intentions obvious as he rushed down the track to smack Shaheen Afridi for a six straight back over long-off in the second ball. Roy’s attack did not end there; he went on to target Quetta’s major seamen, Afridi and Rauf.
Rashid Khan, the leg spinner, was not spared. When he came onto the bowl, he was brushed over square-leg for a six. Roy’s 116 was the first century by a Quetta Gladiators’ batter and the 11th in the event’s history. After Rilee Rossouw’s 43-ball century, this was also the second quickest 100.
When Roy left with a total of 167, Quetta Gladiators needed 38 runs off 26 balls to make up for the loss of Iftikhar Ahmed.
“I believe it was one of my finest innings and have a great feeling about it. The collaboration with James Vince was much greater. We needed to win this game and carry the momentum to Lahore, where we had two wins in five games. We were always optimistic and pleased to have won this game with the second-best run-chase “He was speaking about his innings
