Jonny Bairstow ruled out of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup
Jonny Bairstow has been ruled of the final Test against South Africa and the T20 World Cup 2022 due to a lower limb injury.
England has announced its squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup to be held in Australia, but England has suffered a major setback after the announcement of the team. The England Cricket Board has confirmed that the team’s star batsman Jonny Bairstow will miss the T20 World Cup as well as the third and final Test against South Africa. Bairstow was injured while playing golf in Leeds on Friday.
“Bairstow suffered a lower limb injury in an accident while playing golf in Leeds on Friday. He will meet with a specialist next week to determine the severity of the injury,” the ECB said in a statement. England included Ben Duckett in the Test squad for the third Test against South Africa starting on 8 September. The ECB said that the name of Bairstow’s replacement for the T20 World Cup would be announced later.
