Virat Kohli will play his 100th Test match behind closed doors at the PCA IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali, as Punjab Cricket Association CEO Deepak Sharma revealed that no supporters will be permitted in the first Test between India and Sri Lanka, which will begin on March 4.
Under the guidance of Rohit Sharma, who is captaining India in Test cricket for the first time, Kohli will play his 100th Test match. Visitors will not be permitted to watch the first Test between India and Sri Lanka.
Deepak Sharma, CEO of the Punjab Cricket Association, told ANI that the first Test between India and Sri Lanka would be played without spectators.
Kohli had abandoned the Test leadership after India’s 2-1 loss to South Africa in the away series. Kohli announced his retirement as India’s Test captain after becoming the country’s most successful skipper in the game’s longest format.
Kohli led the Indian team to 40 victories in 68 Tests. After Steve Waugh, Don Bradman, and Ricky Ponting, Kohli has the fourth greatest winning percentage. Kohli guided the Indian cricket team to the ICC World Test Championship final in 2021.
Kohli’s most well-known accomplishment as captain was guiding India to their first-ever Test series victory in Australia. Because he is so passionate about Test cricket, one of his biggest regrets on this tour was failing to beat South Africa in a Test series.
