While batting for Lahore Qalandars against Islamabad United in their Pakistan Super League (PSL) playoff match, Namibian David Wiese hit Pakistani bowler Waqas Maqsood for 27 runs off the final over. At 141/7 after 19 overs, Wiese, who had only faced two deliveries up to that moment, prepared to face Maqsood at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Maqsood started his innings with a wide delivery.
For the rest of the over, Wiese continued smashing Maqsood’s deliveries all over the field with Qalandars in search of an impressive total.
Wiese began with two sixes before hitting a boundary and taking two runs, then struck another six before the overcame to a finish with two runs.
A late flourish from Wiese, along with Abdullah Shafique’s fifty, helped Lahore Qalandars recover from a sluggish start to reach 168 in 10 overs. Mohammad Hafeez scored 28 runs, and Kamran Ghulam scored 30 runs. Mohammad Wasim and Liam Dawson both took two wickets for Islamabad United. Both Maqsood and Shadab Khan bagged one wicket each.
In the PSL league phase, Lahore Qalandars finished second, following table-toppers Multan Sultans, while Islamabad United finished fourth.
