Liverpool FC face Nottingham Forrest after a 23 year gap

Liverpool FC face the challenge of Nottingham Forrest after 23 years in their bid to reach the semi finals of the FA cup for the first time in 7 years.

Nottingham Forrest overcame the hurdle of Huddersfield town to reach the quarter finals stage. The first match between the two sides ended in a draw, so a replay was needed.

Tom Lees had put the visitors in front but goals from Sam Surridge and Ryan Yates meant Nottingham Forrest go through to the quarter final stage where they will host Jurgen Klopp and his men.

In the press conference leading to the match, Jurgen Klopp said that Trent Alexander Arnold was missing. He apparently has a “hamstring” injury and as a result would be out for a few weeks.

This is not good news for Liverpool fans as they have a potential title decider at the Etihad Stadium against Manchester City in just over 3 weeks time.

As for the goalkeeper situation, the Reds boss said Allison Becker will start the match and not Carabao Cup hero Caomhin Kelleher.

Nottingham Forrest would be without defender Scott Mckenna who will be out for upto a month because of an ill timed hamstring injury.

He joins fellow defender Steve Cook, striker Lewis Grabban and left back Max Lowe in a worrying injury list for Forrest.

Goals from Djed Spence, Ryan Yates and Brennan Johnsonn helped Nottingham Forrest win 3-1 against rivals Queens Park Rangers.

On the other hand, Liverpool FC won a crucial tie against Arsenal 2-0 thanks to goals from Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino.

Jurgen Klopp knows it would not be an easy tie as Nottingham Forest have already beaten 2 premier league heavyweights in Arsenal and Leicester, beating the latter 4-1. Though we can expect a heavily rotated Liverpool side to take on Forest.

Liverpool aim to win the quadruple and beating Forest is a big hurdle that they need to overcome.
