MMA Championship: Ritu Phogat Loses In Championship Final

Ritu Phogat’s aspiration of growing as the first Indian woman to conquer a Grand Prix Championship continues void as she failed the finals to Thailand’s Stamp Fairtex. Stamp succeeded at the desired silver belt at the ONE Women’s Atomweight World Grand Prix Championship Final at ONE: WINTER WARRIORS.

The much-anticipated showdown started with a very in command play by the “The Indian Tigress” in set 1. However, just when everybody believed Ritu had an upper hand in this finals, Stamp simply gasped Ritu with her legs and to triumph in Round 2 and the finals.

The match began casually, Fairtex dodging Phogat’s first try at a takedown ere the two used almost a minute and a half surrounding each other, faking kicks, judging the other, scanning for a weakness. It was Phogat who cut the pattern when she jumped in for a different takedown. Fairtex watched it again, but a few seconds following she was forced onto the crate by a different connection from Phogat.

After an excellent tournament period, Ritu was positive and believed in herself to enhance the division’s No.1 competitor. In a post-match meeting “I think Stamp is petrified of me because she has seen my outstanding wrestling skills,” Phogat says of the previous Muay Thai and kickboxing ruler.

Even if Ritu has fallen the championship, she has made the nation proud on one of the greatest MMA programs in the world. When the ONE tournament was declared in October 2020, Ritu was just beginning her MMA profession. By the closing of the year, she had four victories in her bag which made her qualified to claim the division’s elite.
