Neeraj Chopra will lead the athletics team in the CWG

The Indian athletics team for the Commonwealth 2022 has been announced . Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra is going to lead this 37 member team .

The Athletics Federation of India has announced team for the Commonwealth Games . The team will be lead by Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra . There will be 18 women players in the 37 member team , which also includes Hima Das and Dutee Chand .

Recently Avinash Sable , who broke the national record in 3000 m steeplechase and Jyoti Yarraji , who broke her own national record of 100 m last month , also got a place in the team .National record holder Tejaswin Shankar in high jump has also not got a place in the team .

Veteran Seema Punia has been given a chance to participate in the CWG for the 5th time considering her performance in the past . However , Seema will have to achieve the qualifying mark set by the AFI during the competition in the US. Punia has won medals in all her 4 CWG so far.

Men :

Avinash Sable (3000m steeplechase ), Nitender Rawat (marathon) , M Sreeshankar and Mohammad Anees Yahiya (Long Jump) , Abdullah Aboobacker , Praveen Chithravel and Eldhose Paul (triple jump), Tejinderpal Singh Toor (shot put), Neeraj Chopra , DP Manu and Rohit Yadav (javelin throw), Sandeep Kumar and Amit Khatri (walking), Amoj Jacob, Noah Nirmal Tom, Rajeev Arokia, Muhammed Ajmal, Naganathan Pandi and Rajesh Ramesh (4X 400m relay).

Women:

S Dhanalakshmi (100m and 4X 100m relay), Jyothi Yarrraji (100m hurdles), Aishwarya B (long jump and triple jump) and Ancy Sojan (long jump), Manpreet Kaur (shot put), Navjeet Kaur Dhillon and Seema Punia(discus throw), Annu Rani and Shilpa Rani (javelin throw), Manju Bala Singh and Sarita Romit Singh (hammer throw), Bhawna Jat and Priyanka Goswami (10km race walk ) , Hima Das, Dutee Chand, Srabani Nanda, MV Jilna and NS Simi (4X 100m relay).
