Indian shuttler PV Sindhu has reached the final of the Syed Modi International badminton tournament at the Babu Banarasi Indoor Stadium, beating Russia’s Evgeniya Kosetskaya 21-11 in the semifinal clash that lasted for minutes.
After that Russian opponent Evgeniya Kosetskaya was forced to retire hurt midway through their semifinal, Sindhu came out gunning in the semi-final clash, taking the first game comprehensively 21-11. The tournament ended with Sindhu reaching the final.
Former world champion Sindhu will face Malvika Bansod at the summit clash on Sunday. Anupama Upadhyaya, another Indian, lost to Malvika in three games, 19-21, 21-19, and 21-7. Considering Sindhu’s form, world ranking, and head-to-head record, it was expected she would have an easy match.
