Parthiv Patel set to Join Gujarat Titans as Assistant Coach for IPL 2025
Former India wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel is all set to join the Gujarat Titans’ coaching staff ahead of the IPL 2025 season. Parthiv will take on multiple roles, including serving as an assistant coach under head coach Ashish Nehra and acting as one of the team’s primary talent scouts.
This will be Parthiv’s first official coaching role in the IPL. After retiring in 2020, he spent three seasons as a talent scout for Mumbai Indians (2020-2023) and also served as the batting coach for MI Emirates in the inaugural ILT20 season in 2023. After Dinesh Karthik (who joined Royal Challengers Bangalore), Parthiv becomes the second former India wicketkeeper to take on a coaching role with an IPL team for the 2025 season.
Throughout his IPL career, Parthiv played for six franchises between 2008 and 2019, winning the IPL title thrice – with Chennai Super Kings in 2010 and Mumbai Indians in 2015 and 2017. He accumulated 2848 runs at a strike rate above 120 as an opener in 139 matches.
At Gujarat Titans, Parthiv will be a crucial part of the team’s strategy and support system. The Titans, who finished seventh in IPL 2024 after winning the title in 2022 and finishing as runners-up in 2023, have a strong coaching staff that includes head coach Ashish Nehra, director of cricket Vikram Solanki, and assistant coach Aashish Kapoor. Parthiv fills the gap left by former South Africa cricketer Gary Kirsten, who departed after IPL 2024 to become Pakistan’s white-ball coach.
