Pujara, Siraj put India in cruise control at stumps on Day 3

IND vs ENG: Day 3 again, belonged to India as they survived the “Angry Bairstow” attack to end up with a huge lead.

England started the day on 84/5 and added 200 runs, thanks to Bairstow’s ton, before Pujara and Pant led India to 125/3 at stumps.

After the sledging incident, which saw former Indian captain Virat Kohli mouthing words towards Jonny Bairstow, the Englishman took down the Indian bowlers, smashing them all over the park en-route a magnificent century.

This helped the home side avoid a humiliating follow-on and keep them still in the hunt for a win, albeit just.

India have cruise control of the match as well as the series, after another magnificent day out at Edgbaston.

After being asked to bat first, twin centuries from Pant and Sir Jadeja, India ended up with 416 runs on the board.

Bumrah had a memorable outing on day 2. First up, he smashed Stuart Broad for 35 runs in an over, before coming back to pick up 3 crucial wickets with the ball.

Bairstow though, had different plans. He stepped up a gear and scored, what was a much needed century, as other batsmen failed to support him. England were soon bowled out for 284, leaving India a lead of 132 runs!

Mohammed Siraj was the pick of the bowlers today, as he ended the innings with figures reading 4/66 in his 11.3 overs.

James Anderson for the second time this test match, got rid of Shubman Gill, this time, for just 4 runs. However, Pujara stood strong and ended the day 50* off 139 balls, fending of the English attack. Stuart Broad got rid of Hanuma Vihari before, Skipper Ben Stokes came on and picked up the prized wicket of Virat Kohli. The Indian star batsman scored 20(40), before being dismissed.

This time around, Rishabh Pant earned a promotion, after his magnificent innings of 146, as he and Pujara guided India to 125/3 at the end of days play.
