Rachin Ravindra And Ajaz Patel Help New Zealand Escape With A Draw

1st Test between India and New Zealand closed in a draw on the last day. The two-match series stands at 0-0.

India and New Zealand have settled for a draw after on Day 5 of the first test match at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. From the Kiwi’s side, Rachin Ravindra and Ajaz Patel were the last two batters who took the lead at the end and stayed on the crease till the end.

Ravindra Jadeja was the reliable bowler for India with the top figures of 4/40 while Ravichandran Ashwin hit three wickets. Tom Latham became the top scorer for New Zealand with his 52-run inning, the Kiwi opener also tallied 76 runs with William Somerville (36) for the second wicket.

New Zealand’s last-wicket duo of Rachin Ravindra scored 18* runs off of 91 bowls and Ajaz Patel knocked 2* runs off of 23 battled it out for 8.4 overs as the guests flew out with a draw in the first Test against India in Kanpur. Hunting 284 runs, the Kiwis finished on 165 for 9 in 98 overs.

Meantime, Ashwin scored extra achievement to his name as he outdid veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh to become India’s third-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket. The two teams will next face each other in the second Test that will start on Thursday at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli will rejoin the team and drive the team in Mumbai while it will be a hard call for the Indian team board to decide on whom to release as Shreyas Iyer has been the man to save India in both sessions with his first hundred on his debut test match followed by a half-century in the second session.
