Rishabh Pant on how he felt after being elected Vice Captain

Rishabh Pant, who is now a part of the leadership team, tells us about how it will affect him and his game.

Rishabh Pant, who was named the Vice Captain of the Indian cricket team in the series against West Indies, tells us about his role in the team moving forward.

Rishabh Pant led Delhi Capitals to their highest ever finish in 2020, when they finished runner up. They lost the final to Rohit Sharma(India Captain) and Mumbai Indians.

As KL Rahul was injured during the time, BCCI named Rishabh Pant as vice captain and Rohit Sharma as the captain for the series against West Indies.

Pant said, “Sometimes it does. They made me the vice-captain for a couple of matches. But giving my 200 per cent as a player is the only thing under my control. As a part of the leadership group, I had to give my 200 per cent every day and help people around me. It could be backing a bowler, helping Rohit bhai set a fielder in a particular position. You don’t need a designation to help your mates.”

The wicket keeper batsman was among the candidates to replace Virat Kohli as the captain of the Indian Test team.

I won’t have that much of a role of telling them each and everything, obviously they are all mature cricketers but someone needs to be around them to help and guide them in difficult situations and (I am) more than happy to do that,” Rohit had said in his first press conference after taking over the Test job.

“We were groomed by someone else, so it’s a natural process. If you talk of Bumrah, KL, Pant, they have a big role to play in India’s success at the same time they are looked upon as leaders as well.”

Rishabh Pant praised the influence of Jasprit Bumrah and KL Rahul in the dressing room.

Rishabh Pant was retained by Delhi Capitals for a mammoth INR 16 crore.

The Delhi captain will want to lead his side to a maiden IPL title in the forthcoming season. Also read: https://www.sportstrumpet.com/ipl-2022-read-here-which-team-has-the-most-promising-middle-order-in-this-years-ipl/
