Ross Taylor Announces Retirement

Senior New Zealand batter Ross Taylor will retire from international cricket at the end of New Zealand’s home series, getting the curtains down on his triumph voyage that started in an ODI against West Indies in March 2006.

On Thursday ending every conjecture over his career, the 37-year-old announced that the upcoming two-Test series against Bangladesh will be his final game for New Zealand. He will not be a part of the following Tests series against South Africa. On April 4 he will play his last match for New Zealand.

Taylor’s last Test will be at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch and will take his total of impressions to 112, linking him with Daniel Vettori for the most Tests played by a New Zealand player.

“Today I’m announcing my retirement from international cricket at the conclusion of the home summer, two more tests against Bangladesh, and six odi’s against Australia & the Netherlands. Thank you for 17 years of incredible support. It’s been an honour to represent my country #234″ Taylor tweeted.

“It’s been an amazing journey and I feel incredibly fortunate to have represented my country for as long as I have,” he said. “It’s been such a privilege to play with and against some of the greats of the game and too have created so many memories and friendships along the way. But all good things must come to an end and the timing feels right for me.”

Kiwi player will continue to play for his regional team until the ending of the season before constructing a ring on his hereafter in domestic cricket.
