Sachin and Guman Singh star as the Patna Pirates beat U Mumba

Super 10s from Sachin and Guman Singh led Patna Pirates to a 47-36 win over U Mumba. With this victory, the Pirates extended their lead at the top of the points table to seven points.

The Pirates were off to an impeccable start, as Sachin, Guman, and Prashanth Kumar Rai combined to score seven raid points, while the defense added one to the scoreboard to give their side an 8-1 lead.

Down to their final man, U Mumba needed a big raid from Abhishek Singh and he delivered, picking up a bonus and two touchpoints to keep the All Out at bay. But the Pirates’ raiding unit continued their relentless surge, as Sachin added another touchpoint to his tally to reduce U Mumba to two men on the mat.

Mohammadreza Chiyaneh joined in on the action, as his incredible ankle hold left Abhishek immobile leaving U Mumba with a solitary man on the mat. Fazel Atrachali surrendered a touchpoint that inflicted an All Out on U Mumba.

Rahul Sethpal’s stellar ankle hold on Sachin and a two-point raid from V. Ajith Kumar cut the Pirates’ lead to six. Abhishek then picked up three touchpoints in quick succession as U Mumba reduced the Pirates to a solitary man on the mat. Guman Singh picked up the bonus before being pinned down by U Mumba’s defense which inflicted an All-Out on the Pirates and cut their lead to two.

With U Mumba on the comeback trail, the Pirates needed a big raid to end their surge and Sachin answered his team’s call with a four-point raid that extended the Pirates’ lead to seven.

Another touchpoint from the raider left U Mumba with a solitary man on the mat and the defense pinned down Abhishek to inflict an All Out on U Mumba to give their side a nine-point lead. U Mumba finished the half with a 2-1 run to go into half-time trailing 26-18.

The Pirates started the second half stronger and extended their lead to 10 and reduced U Mumba to just three players on the mat. A Super Tackle from U Mumba’s defense and a touchpoint from Shivam cut their team’s deficit to seven, but a Super Raid from Monu left them on the brink of another All Out.

A well-timed tackle on Abhishek left U Mumba with a solitary man on the mat and Shivam surrendered a touchpoint, which inflicted another All-Out on his side and extended the Pirates’ lead to 12.

U Mumba tried to mount a comeback but the Pirates matched them point-for-point to retain their 12-point cushion. A 4-1 run from U Mumba gave them hope of cutting the deficit to seven, but a Super Raid from Sachin in the game’s final raid meant U Mumba left the game empty-handed.
