Shreyas Iyer – The star man for India against Sri Lanka

Shreyas Iyer, India’s batsman, is thrilled with his series-winning performance in the just-concluded three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka. Iyer claimed that being undefeated in all three Twenty20 Internationals against Sri Lanka was a good effort on his part and that he would take lots of positives from the series.

Shreyas Iyer was named Player of the Series after hitting three consecutive fifties and scoring 204 runs without being dismissed.

I’d want to unwind a little, allow myself some space, and refrain from thinking too far ahead. Now I’m simply trying to stay present. If you’re playing T20I cricket, batting in the top three positions is a great spot to start pacing your innings. During a virtual news conference, Iyer stated that if you bat lower in the order, you won’t be able to take your time and will have to start from the beginning.

Winning all three T20s, on my part, is an excellent achievement, but I have no hope of success since the competition in our team is so intense. I simply want to take advantage of any opportunity that comes my way. That is my attitude, and I like finishing games. Since there’s so much competition, I can’t talk about securing my spot. To score runs, you must be adaptable at any position, he said.

Shreyas went on to remark on the team’s rivalry: “My attitude is to take and maximise as many possibilities as possible. I’m just playing as I’ve always done, with no thought for the future. Every player has a unique set of talents and weaknesses, and I like to concentrate on mine. It doesn’t worry me if people believe I’m bad at the short ball.

The Indian T20I juggernaut continued on Sunday with a six-wicket victory against Sri Lanka in the third T20I at Dharamsala. The Asian heavyweights, who are currently No. 1 in the world, swept the series 3-0, their third consecutive sweep of a T20I series since last year’s T20 World Cup. Sri Lanka was unable to defend 146 in the third T20I, losing all three matches on their trip thus far. Dasun Shanka’s gallant 74 was in vain.
