India skipper KL Rahul won the toss and opted to bat first against South Africa in the second ODI in Paarl. India has gone in unchanged while the Proteas have replaced Marco Jansen with Sisanda Magala.
India posted 287/6 in 50 overs Rahul also added 63 runs for the first wicket with Shikhar Dhawan. Shikhar Dhawan scored 29 runs before getting to Aiden Markram. Virat Kohli was gone for a duck. Pant and Rahul added 115 runs for the third wicket which was the defining partnership of the Indian batting. In the end, there was a good 48-run partnership between Ravichandran Ashwin and Shardul Thakur in the last seven overs. Shardul was brilliant with the bat again as he scored 40 runs. For South Africa, Tabraiz Shamsi picked two wickets while Sisanda Magala, Aiden Markram Keshav Maharaj got one each.
South Africa made an aggressive start to their chase of 288 runs. Quinton de Kock and the debutant Janneman Malan started the innings with a solid partnership for the first of 132 runs. Quinton de Kock scored amazing 78 runs before getting out to Jasprit Bumrah. Quinton de Kock scored his 27th half-century. While Janneman Malan scored 91 runs from 108 balls. Rassie van der Dussen and Aiden Makram added 74 runs for the fourth wicket that guided South Africa to victory South Africa beat India by 7 wickets to claim the ODI series.
