Sri Lanka’s Suranga Lakmal will retire after the tour of India.

Suranga Lakmal has announced his retirement from international cricket after the Sri Lankan team’s tour of India. Lakmal has informed the board of the decision to retire.

Suranga Lakmal made his ODI debut in December 2009 against India. He is a former captain of the Test team. A total of 168 wickets have been taken by him in 68 Test matches, and 109 wickets in 86 ODIs. The 34-year-old appeared in only 11 T20Is, taking eight wickets.

Sri Lanka tour of India will begin on February 25. Sri Lanka will play two Tests and three Twenty20 Internationals. On February 25, Bengaluru will host the first Test and Mohali will host the second Test on March 5. On March 13, Mohali will also host the first T20I, after which the second will be played in Dharamsala. The final game in the series will take place in Lucknow on March 18.

“I’m indebted to SLC for giving me this astonishing opportunity and having faith in me to bring back my mother land honour as it has been absolute pleasure to be associated with the board that shaped my professional life and also enriched my personal development,” said Lakmal in his retirement letter submitted to SLC.

I have nothing but the utmost respect for all my players, coaches, team managers, support staff, administrative staff, and all other supportive staff,” he said.
