Veteran Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin made a bold prediction on Thursday, predicting that uncapped Indian pacer Avesh Khan will spark a massive bidding battle in the Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction for the 2022 season.
Ashwin predicted a bidding battle for Avesh Khan, like how Vijay Mallya threatened to sign the veteran off-spinner during the 2010 auction. Avesh, who was released by the Delhi Capitals, has set his base price for the auction at INR 20 lakh and is among the first batch of uncapped players in the auction pool of 590 players.
Avesh has been a star performer for the Delhi Capitals club since signing for INR 70 lakh a few years back. Notably, the 25-year-old bowler finished the IPL 2021 season as the second-highest wicket-taker, with only Harshal Patel ahead of him.
