In the second half, Villarreal showed more intent. Substitute Francis Coquelin was tripped by Daniele Rugani in the box.

VAR asked the referee to look at the pitchside monitor and subsequently he gave a penalty to Villarreal.

Gerard Moreno who had just been subbed on took the onus upon him and scored to put Villarreal a goal up with only 15 minutes remaining.

10 minutes later Pau Torres put the tie to bed as side footed the ball into the net after a lay off from Serge Aurier.

In the dying stages of the match, Villarreal find them 3 vs 2 in the Juventus half and they capitalize on it as they earn a penalty at the expense of Matthijs De Ligt.

Arnaut Danjuma stepped up and scored to put Villarreal 3 up in Turin.

A historic night for the Spanish Club as they knocked out the Italian giants on their own turf.
