Sri Lanka has suffered a major setback before the third match of the ongoing T20 series against Australia.
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) revealed on Tuesday that spinner Wanindu Hasaranga tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of today’s third T20I against Australia. Australia and Sri Lanka will play the third T20I later today. “Wanindu Hasaranga has been shown to be positive for Covid-19. The player tested positive after a regular Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) this morning (15th February). Hasaranga is now being treated with Covid-19 procedures and is being held in isolation “SLC posted a tweet.
The board had already stated that Kusal Mendis had recovered from COVID-19 and would be available for selection for the third T20I.
Australia already has a 2-0 series lead in the ongoing five-match T20I series, and a win in the third T20I would give them an unassailable series advantage.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) purchased Hasaranga in the Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction for Rs 10.75 crore.
