“We couldn’t get our squad combination perfect in our first four matches,” says Akhin GS.

The Bengaluru Torpedoes and Chennai Blitz are preparing to face off in the RuPay Prime Volleyball League’s eighteenth encounter on Sunday at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad.

Akhin GS of Chennai commented ahead of their encounter against the Torpedoes, “It would be a difficult game against the Bengaluru Torpedoes. We may have been eliminated from the Semi-Finals, but the points are crucial for our opponents. We’ll give it our all and strive to win the game. It’s also been a pleasure to compete in this competition. Many grassroots players have contacted me to inquire about how they may participate in the competition. They want to make a name for themselves in the spotlight.”

When asked what went wrong for Chennai this season, the Middle Blocker stated, “We couldn’t get our team combination correct in our first four matches, which is why we didn’t come out on top. We also made several mistakes, which lost us the first four games. However, against Calicut Heroes, we got our combination perfect and corrected our faults, which allowed us earn our first victory in the competition.”

The Bengaluru Torpedoes will be looking to strengthen their chances of making it to the Semi-Finals when they take on the Blitz on Sunday. The Universal player Noah Taitano said that the Torpedoes are ready for the challenge, “We are really excited about our chances of making it to the Semi-Finals. I think our energy is going to roll into our next game. We are ready for tomorrow’s game and hopefully we get the desired result. All the guys are ready to make it to the Semis.”

After going down against Kolkata Thunderbolts and Calicut Heroes, Bengaluru produced a brilliant performance to defeat Ahmedabad Defenders on Thursday. Reflecting on the team’s performance, Taitano expressed, “We played more as a team in our last game against Ahmedabad Defenders. When we encountered the losses against Kolkata Thunderbolts and Calicut Heroes, we were playing as individuals. When we started playing as one unit, the result went in our favour. Our setters also did an amazing job against Ahmedabad Defenders. We will ensure that we play as one unit in our next match as well. If we keep playing as a team, we are going to keep winning.”

The Chennai Blitz will go up against Bengaluru Torpedoes at 1850 hrs on Sunday, 20 February 2022.
