We will do our best, and our goal is to win: Juan Ferrando of ATK Mohun Bagan

ATK Mohun Bagan chances of reaching the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) final were dashed on Saturday as they were defeated 3-1 by Hyderabad FC at the Athletic Stadium in Bambolim, Goa.

The three goals were conceded due to defensive mistakes, according to ATKMB head coach Juan Ferrando. He is, however, looking forward to the second leg to even the score.

In the 18th minute, Roy Krishna gave ATKMB the lead, but goals by Batholomew Ogbeche, Yasir Mohammad, and Javier Siverio changed the game in Hyderabad FC’s favour.

Juan Ferrando addressed the media after the game.

Here are some excerpts from his press conference:

How demotivating is it to surrender three goals after scoring the first?

I’m sorry if I’m repeating myself, but the team was exhausted, there were some injuries near the finish, and the substitutes were made in response to those injuries. We modified our strategy, and then we made blunders. We lost track of time at the conclusion. If you lose focus, you expose yourself up to excellent possibilities for Hyderabad FC.

You mentioned injuries. So, how is the squad’s fitness?

We’ll see; it’ll be difficult because we need at least two to three days, and then we’ll see what happens.

What went wrong on defence?

They attempted an offside in the first corner, but it was not granted. The second is a pair of errors that resulted in a loss of possession.

When it comes to the second leg, do you want extra time, or do you want to finish the game in normal time?

As in the game against Jamshedpur FC, we must strive to find answers while maintaining a winning attitude. In the end, we don’t need to make any changes. Our mindset is to win the next Wednesday, which is required when the score is, of course, two zero. We shall try our hardest.
